Acneiform rash on the face is not just a cosmetic defect, but a disease that is most often encountered in adolescence with hormonal changes in the body. Sometimes acne appears at a more mature age, as a result of a malfunction of internal organs. Obstruction of the sebaceous glands leads to the occurrence of an inflammatory process.
Causes of acne appearance on the skin
The most common cause of acne on the body is the restructuring of the body’s hormonal system (for example, during adolescence). After twelve years, children are on the pubertal growth stage, the body matures and the hormonal background changes. Hormonal imbalance often leads to hyperfunction and hypersecretion of the sebaceous glands. Acne bacteria that grow in hair follicles also cause inflammation of the skin tissue and cause acne.
Acne treatment is a long-term process that includes a number of procedures selected by a dermatologist individually for each patient. At the same time, there are three degrees of severity of acne: mild, moderate and severe.
Acneiform rash (acne) development degrees
Dermatology distinguishes four degrees of acne which differ from each other depending on the area of the affected skin and the type of inflammation.
The first degree includes acne manifesting itself in one or two places on the face in the form of closed and open comedones (black and white dots), as well as single papules (small elevations on the skin, ranging in size from millet to lentil grain) and pustules (pustules).
For the second degree of acne, inflammation is characteristic not only on the face, but also on other parts of the body (shoulders, back). The foci of inflammation look the same as in the first degree (comedones, papules, pustules).
With third-degree acne, papules and pustules become very deep, scarring and dark spots appear.
Acne of the fourth degree is accompanied by unpleasant painful sensations. Large cyanotic clusters with cysts, nodes and atrophic scars appear on the skin.
