Getting prepared for a blood test
A complete blood count involves determining the cellular composition of the blood, which can show inflammation and infection.
One usually needs to fast for at least four hours to get a blood test. It is not advisable to eat fatty foods, sweets, or alcohol the evening before the blood test, as these can affect the results of the test. Blood for hormone tests is usually sampled at certain times of the day (in the morning, at lunchtime, or in the evening), which you should ask your doctor about in advance.
Getting prepared for a urine test
Urinalysis reveals how the kidneys are working and also informs you about the state of your metabolism.
Urine for analysis is collected in a pre-disinfected or special sterile container. Rules for sampling the urine are as follows:
- Urine for urinalysis is collected in the morning after awakening;
- Before collecting urine for the test, you need to get bathed with warm water;
- Urinalysis requires an average portion of urine (first, urinate into a toilet, then into a container to collect the urine).
Urine must be delivered to the laboratory immediately after being collected. If urine is sampled within 24 hours, urine containers must be stored in the refrigerator.
Getting prepared for a stool test
The stool for analysis is collected in a special sterile container, equipped with a built-in spoon for convenience. The stool must be sampled in the morning. Before taking the fecal matter, it is recommended to urinate and bathe, so that urine does not get into the sample for analysis. The test for worms requires taking a stool sample from 2 to 3 sections of the fecal matter.
